If your LG is showing Er codes, stopped cooling, or you've manually defrosted it and the problem keeps coming back — the control board is almost certainly the root cause. LG boards are a well-documented failure point across InstaView, Door-in-Door, and French door models. A dead fridge with food going warm is a stressful situation, and we get it. Let's fix it right. OEM LG control board part numbers typically begin with EBR or EBX — for example EBR75234713, EBR86093708, EBR81182702, or EBX61766401.
When an LG board starts failing, you'll see it in the display — Er FF, Er rF, Er dH, Er CO — or the unit will stop cooling entirely without warning. The board manages the defrost cycle, fan motor commands, compressor control, and ice maker logic. When it goes, everything goes. And because LG uses dozens of board variants across similar-looking models, the part number sticker on your board is the only reliable way to confirm the right replacement.
We carry boards for InstaView, Door-in-Door, French door, side-by-side, and bottom-freezer LG configurations. Search by your EBR or EBX part number above for availability.
LG Refrigerator Error Codes
Note: Error codes may display differently by model — some LG units prefix with "E" instead of "Er". Always search by your part number, not the error code alone.
Symptoms a Replacement Board Can Fix
Finding Your LG EBR or EBX Part Number
The part number on the sticker on your current control board is the only reliable way to confirm fitment — not your model number. LG uses dozens of board variants across similar-looking models. If you cannot access it or are not sure, send us a message before you order and we will confirm the right board for you.

LG Control Board FAQs
Not always — but it is one of the most common causes. The Er rF code means the refrigerator fan motor is not responding correctly. The first thing to check is frost buildup around the fan blades (unplug the fridge and let it defrost for 8+ hours). If defrosting clears the error but it comes back within 1–2 weeks, the control board is almost certainly failing to run the defrost cycle properly — a board issue, not a fan issue.
If the fan blades spin freely when the fridge is unplugged but the error returns immediately when powered back on, the board's fan output circuit has likely failed. That is what our EcoSmart replacement board fixes.
Many customers replace LG control boards themselves — it is typically a straightforward swap. The board is usually located at the back of the refrigerator. You unplug the harness connectors, remove a few screws, swap the board, and reconnect. Most people without any appliance repair experience complete it in 30–45 minutes using a YouTube video for their specific model.
The key is matching the correct board by part number. If you have the part number and a screwdriver, you can likely handle this yourself. We are happy to walk you through it if you have questions.
There are a few reasons this happens with LG refrigerators specifically. Some LG models have a known defrost system issue where the root cause is a combination of the board and a defrost sensor or heater that was already damaged. Replacing just the board fixed the error temporarily, but the secondary component continued degrading and overloaded the new board.
LG has also released updated board revisions for models that had design issues. If you tell us your model and part number, we can let you know what we have in stock and whether an updated revision is available.
If the board fails due to a defect within 6 months, we repair or replace it — no runaround. What is not covered: incorrect installation, power surge damage, or physical damage. If you install the board and it does not fix your original problem because a different component was the actual cause, that is not a defect — but we will help you troubleshoot and find the right part.
No — "OF F" is Demo Mode (also called Display Mode or Showroom Mode). It disables all cooling to save energy when the unit is on display in a store. If this activates accidentally, the fridge will show normal temperatures on the display but will not actually cool. To disable: open either refrigerator door, then press and hold the REFRIGERATOR and ICE PLUS buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds until you hear a beep.
If Demo Mode keeps re-activating on its own, that can indicate a control board fault.
