How to Find Your Refrigerator Control Board Part Number

The part number is the only reliable way to get the right replacement board. Every major brand hides it somewhere slightly different — here's exactly where to look on GE, LG, Samsung, and Whirlpool boards, with real photos showing what you're looking for.

1
Remove your control board

LG Refrigerator Control Boards

Flip the board face-up and look for the tallest cylindrical capacitor. The part number sticker is affixed directly to it — a white barcode label with the EBR or EAX number printed in large characters.

Read EBR then the 8 digits together. Ignore batch codes, date codes, and marks like "RoHS." LG part numbers are always 11 characters — EBR or EAX followed by exactly 8 digits.

Samsung Refrigerator Control Boards

Look for a small square QR sticker sitting on top of one of the main chips on the board face. The part number string is printed at the bottom of that label. Take a phone photo first — it's easier to read zoomed in.

The string starts with a 2-digit manufacturing code — skip it:

06DA9201199B

Skip 06 — your part number is DA92-01199B. Add the hyphen after the fourth character. Always include the revision letter at the end — B, C, and L are different boards.

GE Refrigerator Control Boards

Look for a white rectangular sticker directly on the board face. It shows a primary number starting with 200D, 225D, 197D, or 245D — highlighted in red on the label. A WR55X##### cross-reference number also appears on the same sticker. Either number works in search.

Example 200D4850G022 also listed as WR55X10942
Whirlpool refrigerator control board showing P/N label location Close-up of Whirlpool control board label showing P/N W10811364

Whirlpool, Maytag & KitchenAid Control Boards

Find a white label on the board face with the text "P/N" followed by a number starting with W or WPW. Rev and SW Ver codes appear on the same label — ignore those, only the P/N matters.

Maytag and KitchenAid refrigerators share the same boards as Whirlpool — the W10 format applies across all three brands.

Example W10811364 look for "P/N" on the label

Our Story

Most failed refrigerator control boards aren't actually dead.

The board in your refrigerator almost always has one or two components that failed, not the whole board, those components can be identified, replaced, and the board fully restored to working condition.

"There had to be a better fix than paying full retail for a new OEM board. Or worse, scrapping an appliance with years of life left in it just because of one failed circuit."

That's what EcoSmart was built on. Genuine OEM refrigerator control boards, rebuilt the right way at a price that actually makes sense. Every board that leaves us has been diagnosed, repaired, and verified, not just wiped down and reboxed.

We stock GE, LG, Samsung, and Whirlpool boards. In stock, ready to ship and backed by a 6-month warranty. Your appliance deserves a second life, and so does your budget.

Every Board. Every Time.
1
Visual Inspection We examine every board for burn marks, swollen capacitors, and physical damage, anything that tells the story of what failed.
2
Fault Diagnosis We target the known failure points specific to that part number, not just what looks bad on the surface.
3
Targeted Repair Faulty and weakened parts are replaced. We fix what is wrong. We do not mask symptoms or skip steps.
4
ESD Anti-Static Packaging Heat-sealed in a single-use static-protective bag, the same standard OEM manufacturers use, before it ships.

Error Code Guide

Seeing an error code on your refrigerator? We have the fix.

Shop All Boards

These are the codes that point directly to a failed control board. Find yours below and search your part number for an exact replacement.

GE Refrigerator

GE Profile, Cafe, Monogram, Hotpoint

Seeing one of these on your GE?
The control board is the fix.

SY EF FF Error E0 Code CC Error Not Cooling Unresponsive

GE boards often fail silently with no error code at all. If your GE refrigerator stopped cooling or the display went dead, the main control board is the most likely cause across GE, Profile, Cafe, and Hotpoint models.

LG Refrigerator

LG, Kenmore Elite (LG platform)

Seeing one of these on your LG?
The control board is the fix.

Er FF Er rF Er dH Er CO Er 1F Not Cooling

These codes point directly to the main control board on most LG French door and side-by-side models. Kenmore Elite refrigerators built on the LG platform show the same codes and use the same boards.

Samsung Refrigerator

French door, side-by-side, bottom freezer

Seeing one of these on your Samsung?
The control board is the fix.

5E / SE 84E 85E 88 PC-ER Not Cooling

Samsung French door and 4-door models are among the most common boards we carry. The 88 code and PC-ER are direct board failure indicators. 84E and 85E point to compressor communication issues, almost always the main PCB.

Whirlpool Refrigerator

Maytag, KitchenAid, Amana, Kenmore 596

Seeing one of these on your Whirlpool?
The control board is the fix.

CF Code E1 / E2 F1 Code PO Error Not Cooling Unresponsive

Whirlpool boards cover Maytag, KitchenAid, and Amana models too, many of which share the same board across brands. F1 is a direct board self-diagnosis on most models. PO errors after a power outage almost always point to the board.

Repair vs. Replace

Is it worth fixing your refrigerator, or should you replace it?

For most refrigerators under 15 years old the answer is almost always repair, especially when the problem is the control board. The industry guideline is simple: if the repair costs less than 50% of replacement cost, fix it.

A working appliance with years of life left in it should not go to the curb over one failed circuit board. Replacing just the board gets your refrigerator running the same day your part arrives, for a fraction of what a new unit costs.

The 50% Rule: if the repair is less than half the cost of a replacement appliance, repair every time.

Cost Comparison
